“Faith to move mountains” – talk by Canon Andrew Evans at the Quiet Garden

This talk was recorded at All Saints Church, Great Chalfield, on Tuesday 01 February 2022 at the monthly Quiet Garden.

The reading was Mark 11: 22 – 26.

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” [26]

Carols by Candlelight at St. Katharine’s Church recording of entire service

With choir, congregational carols, poems, bible readings and a Christmas Thought from Rachel Firth entitled “The Heart of Christmas” a lovely thoughtful service to enjoy listening to.

The bible readings during the service were as follows:

  1. The coming of Christ foretold from Isaiah 9:2 and 6 – 7
  2. The Angel Gabriel appears to Mary from Luke 1:26 – 38
  3. The birth of Jesus from Matthew 1: 18 – 25
  4. The shepherds come to the manger from Luke 2:8 – 20
  5. The mystery of the incarnation from John 1:1 – 14

We were immensely grateful to have Mike Daniels and his excellent choir Cantamini with us for a second year running. They added a musical treat of such calibre to our Carols by Candlelight last year that we hoped they would fit us in with their busy schedule again. Together with their organist Steven Hollas, Mike and the choir have undertaken exciting musical projects with a varied repertoire. They perform regularly in church services and other venues throughout the year.
